‘Swashbuckling’ fiction
The Sharpe books are in the main very enjoyable and do give some real historical insight into the napoleonic era, armies, tactics, battles etc, once you know what is fiction. They are a little cliched and some of the writing is a bit hackneyed but it’s easy to look past that
