Born in 1924 in Louisburgh in Co Mayo, Sr Hilary entered the Missionary Sisters of the Holy Rosary in Killeshandra in 1943.
Having graduated as a doctor in 1952 from UCD, she spent most of her life in Sierra Leone, West Africa. Her books are on her life experiences in the two locations
