With two letters loosely laid in, one each from each of the authors (one by d'Alton dated 1862 is unrelated to the book( it looks nto be related to , the other, by O'Flaherty, dated 1863 is related to subscriptions and material for the book.
This uncommon history of Dundalk, County Louth went through two printings in 1864, I take it this is the first printing as it makes no mention of any other edition ( and the second printing was, as far as I can ascertain by a Dublin publisher) The Dr ( john) Browne on the letter may be the Dr Browne on the subscriber lis, and the perosn to whom the book is dedicated.
In a very attractive (and sturdy) period binding, with gilt banding and shamrock motifs. Gilt finish to page block . Previous owner's name ( neatly, as gaeilge on inside endpage)
The sole flaw is some moderate foxing and age spotting to the pages (notably to the front title pages
