As well as his writing practice, Pádraic Breathnach writes about his other major interests, nature, walking, travel, horse riding and fly-fishing.
During his student years, he spent periods working in London, experiences that had a big impact on him. He spent a time teaching in St. Mary's College in Galway, in Coláiste Charraig an Tobair, Cashel, in Belvedere College, Dublin, in Coláiste Chonnacht in Spiddal, prior to his appointment as a lecturer in Irish in 1969 in Mary Immaculate College in Limerick. Breathnach is originally from the Moycullen in County Galway, and has lived in Limerick for many years.
