Product Description
Sean O Riordain (1916-1977) is one of the finest Irish poets of the twentieth century. He was among the foremost poets of Nuafhiliocht na Gaeilge, the new Irish language poetry that emerged in the mid twentieth century. This collection gathers Gabriel Fitzmaurice's translations of O Riordain in a single volume as homage to the poet. It contains his, and O Riordain's, favorite poems. Though translating O Riordain is a challenge, Fitzmaurice translates him sound and sense, keeping close to his rhythm and rhyme thus rendering O Riordain's marvelous poems faithfully and memorably into English.
