Product Description
Discover a life of ease and joy through movement-based mindfulness
The problem for all of us today is that we live in our heads, always judging, comparing, analysing; constantly distracted by emails, phone calls, to-do lists – we can’t seem to find the time to do what we want. But what if the solution to stress and anxiety and mental clutter were to lie not in our heads but in our bodies? Mindfulness in Motion presents the Body in Mind Training programme: a truly groundbreaking new approach to mindfulness that is practised not by sitting still but by engaging with the moving body.
Written by neuroscientist and mindfulness expert Dr Tamara Russell, this is the only book on mindfulness to explain exactly why moving meditation is the best way of ‘rewiring’ the brain, teaching it to focus on the present moment. Her simple exercises are designed to be accessible to everyone, including those who can’t seem to find time for practice, and those who have struggled with traditional Zen-inspired mindfulness, with its emphasis on sitting meditation.
• Over 45 brain-training exercises, many illustrated with step-by-step photographs, that can be done any time (the moving body is always with you!)
• Diagrams explaining the positive effects of mindfulness on the brain, reinforcing key messages
• Practical tips for embedding mindfulness in daily life, however busy you are
Dr Tamara Russell MSc, PhD, DClinPsych is the founder of Body in Mind Training, which encapsulates her unique multiple perspective as a clinical psychologist, neuroscientist, martial artist and teacher of mindfulness.
