He also traces the evolution of an Irish Christianity shaped not by conquest but by storytelling – a non authoritarian, mystical and nature centred tradition that produced wandering monks, illuminated manuscripts and a cultural flourishing that helped revitalise Europe.
At the heart of the book is the idea that spirituality is not a set of beliefs but a way of perceiving the world. Molloy illustrates this through vivid stories of island life: blessings murmured while planting potatoes, angels lingering at sacred sites, thin places where the veil between the worlds dissolves and rituals such as handfasting, pilgrimage, fasting and celebrating the Celtic calendar.
Author Biography :
Dara Molloy is a Celtic priest, monk and druid living on Inis Mór. After leaving the Roman Catholic priesthood, he married Tess Harper and they have four children. Dara performs Celtic spiritual ceremonies, especially weddings, and acts as guide to pilgrim groups visiting the island.
