A hardcover first edition, Gill , Dublin, 1963 of the second novel by Joseph Brady, after the debut Big Sycamore. This is a similar biographical novel, taking the young Martin Fitzgerald from the foot of Slievenamon Tipperary, to the USA on a dangerous Atlantic crossing in 1917, where he serves as a curate in Brooklyn, before returning to become a curate at a small mountain parish above Blessington, County Wicklow.
This occurs before and during the War of independence.
Condition - book, good, solid in red cloth.
Condition - dustjacket - heavy wear, closed tears , chipping to head of spine. Now in a clear plastic removable (modern) Herma jacket cover.
Joseph Brady was a pen name for cleric and author Maurice Browne,( 1892-1979) whose own life mirrored many of the events in his biographical novels.
