Hardcover in a leatherette effect covers, published in this reprint by Collins UK , 1965. Uneven sunfade to the spine, rubbing and wear to the top and tail of the spine, gilt finish to page block ends.
Profusely ( and strikingly) illustrated throughout.
The main flaw is that some gowl wrote an overly long gift inscription on teh blank endpages, and then a subsequent gowl thought it a good idea to partly erase that with a black marker ( while still leaving it legible) . (see photos)
Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám is the title that Edward FitzGerald gave to his 1859 translation from Persian to English of a selection of quatrains (rubāʿiyāt). With its beautiful and lyrical verses, this collection of quatrains explores the themes of life, love, and the passage of time. Whether you're a seasoned poetry reader or new to the genre, this wonderful book is a must-read that will transport you to another time and place.
