Product Description
Sayles book about his experience as a young journalist freshly off the boat from Australia and working for a scandal-sheet tabloid in Fleet Street has been described as the best novel about journalism ever (Phillip Knightley) effectively a documentary, lightly disguised as a novel (Neville Stack) and the best novel never published (Anthony Delano). In fact the book was published, by Doubleday of Garden City, New York, in 1961 but was withdrawn almost immediately by the publishers after the threat of a libel writ from one of the characters who believed he was identified in it.
